Egdehirden at Avaldsnes Viking Festival 2026 ⚔️

From June 5th to 7th, members of Egdehirden traveled to Avaldsnes to participate in the annual Viking Festival, one of Norway’s largest Viking events and a major gathering point for reenactors from across Scandinavia and Europe.

Throughout the weekend, our members actively took part in the festival’s combat program, participating in three fight shows each day. Visitors were able to experience historical combat demonstrations, Viking-age martial traditions, and large-scale battle scenes performed by warriors from many different groups.

One of the highlights of the festival was the Strandhogg, a spectacular raid scenario involving the Viking ship Tyra, where warriors stormed ashore in a dramatic reenactment inspired by Viking-age coastal raids.

Beyond the combat arena, the festival featured a vibrant Viking market, living-history camps, traditional crafts, music, and activities for visitors of all ages. Events like Avaldsnes provide a unique opportunity to meet other groups, exchange knowledge, train together, and strengthen the historical combat community.

A big thank you to the organizers, fellow reenactors, and everyone who came to watch the shows and visit the camp.

⚔️ We look forward to returning to Avaldsnes in the future!
